ActivePerl 5.6 build 630ActivePerl is a "merge" of the two popular Perl ports. It has the best of both, plus more: a merge of ActiveState Perl Object technology into core Perl; support for standard extension mechanisms such as MakeMaker; easy installation and management of modules and extensions with Perl Package Manager; binaries for most CPAN modules, available from ActiveState\'s repository (including TK and GD); updated FAQs; and complete, integrated online help in HTML.
Perl is an interpreted language optimized for scanning arbitrary text files, extracting information from those text files, and printing reports based on that information. The ActivePerl package has all you\'ll need to get Perl up and running, even with a Web server. It includes Perl for Windows; the binary of the core Perl 5.6.0 distribution; Perl for ISAPI, an IIS plug-in that makes Perl CGI lightning fast; PerlScript, an ActiveX scripting engine with a Perl brain; and the Perl Package Manager, a Perl extension installer and manager. This latest version has some previous bundled modules updated to their latest available versions and the following ones are now included: libwin32 v0.18, URI v1.17, and SOAP-Lite v0.51. Many of the standard extensions supplied with Perl have been audited for the use of C "static" variables and fixed to avoid such use. PPM v3 beta 2 is also included.
Note: Perl Resource Kit and Win32 Edition users can now get the latest version of Perl and free updates to the PRK components by installing the latest build of ActivePerl and Perl Development Kit. If you have Windows 95, you will need DCOM for Windows 95 to use ActivePerl.
Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000. Free.

CAPTURE THE FLAG! v3.0 New Play by E-Mail! "This wilderness version of hide-and-seek remains the most exquisite shareware strategy game for the PC. What makes it so great? Maybe it's the artful melding of high detail and ease of use... Or Maybe it's the lovely artwork. This game is so intriguing that you won't want to stop playing."
