Wine 2000-01-09
Wine (Wine Is Not an Emulator) is an implementation of the Windows 3.x and Windows APIs on top of X and Unix. 
It is a Windows compatibility layer that provides both a development toolkit (Winelib) for porting Windows 
sources to Unix and a program loader, allowing unmodified Windows 3.1/95/NT binaries to run under Intel Unix 
systems. Wine works on most popular Unix versions, including Linux, FreeBSD, and Solaris. Wine does not 
require Microsoft Windows, as it is a completely alternative implementation consisting of 100 percent 
Microsoft-free code, but it can optionally use native system DLLs if they are available. Wine comes with 
complete sources, documentation, and examples, and is freely redistributable. Version 991114 adds ICMP DLL 
support, can debug APIs based on ptrace, and adds many fixes for better portability, more features for

WineTools is a collection of tools to do the following:
Create a fake Windows drive, Edit the Wine config file, Install Windows fonts (Andale, Arial, Arial Black, Comic Sans, Courier New, Georgia, Impact, Time New Roman, Trebuchet, Verdana & Webdings), Install important Windows system files and applications (DCOM98, Visual Basic/C++ Runtime dll:s, Windows Installer, Windows Script 5.6, Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1, Windows Media Player 6.4) and install some applications that are known to work with Wine, e.g. Microsoft Office 2000, Photoshop 7.0, Notes 5 and Eudora 6. After downloading unpack the archive (tar zxvf winetools-2.1.0.tgz) and run ./install.sh (as root).
WineTools will be installed in /opt/winetools. Type wt to run WineTools.
