DETAILS REGARDING THE INTEL EtherExpress(tm) 16 DRIVERS FOR
DOS WORKSTATIONS AND OS/2 REQUESTER ON NETWARE ODI NETWORKS

This README file contains instructions for installing the
driver. It does not explain how to configure the
EtherExpress boards. For instructions about configuring the
board, see either the Expert's Guide to Configuring the
Intel EtherExpress(tm) 16 and 16TP Boards or the Complete
Guide to Installing and Configuring the Intel
EtherExpress(tm) 16 and 16TP Network Adapters.

The only configuration parameter required for these drivers
is the I/O address. Before proceeding, know the I/O address
you assigned to the EtherExpress 16 board when you ran
SOFTSET.

INSTALLING THE OS/2 REQUESTER

The procedure for installing the OS/2 Requester involves
five steps:

1. Run Novell's INSTALL program, as described in Novell's
     documentation.

2. Copy the Intel driver (\NETWARE.ODI\EXP16ODI.SYS) to
the computer's disk, specifically to the directory you
specified when running the INSTALL program. The
     default directory was \NETWARE.

3. Edit the CONFIG.SYS file to load the Intel driver. To
do this, first find the section of the CONFIG.SYS file
that contains the REM'ed out references to many
possible network drivers. Then add this line:

          DEVICE=C:\NETWARE\EXP16ODI.SYS

If, when you ran the INSTALL program, you selected a
directory other than NETWARE, be sure to replace
"NETWARE" with the directory you chose.

4. If the EtherExpress 16 board is configured to use the
default I/O address (300h), skip to step 5.

Otherwise, you'll need to edit or create a file named
NET.CFG in the root directory. To this file, add the
     following two lines:

          Link Driver EXP16ODI
           Port xxx

but replace xxx with the I/O address that the
EtherExpress 16 board is configured to use. Use
capital letters exactly as shown in the example above,
and be sure to indent the second line by using at least
     one space or tab.

5. Now reboot the computer, and look for the driver's
     log-on message.

INSTALLING THE DRIVER FOR DOS WORKSTATIONS

The procedure for installing the driver for DOS workstations
involves four steps:

1. Follow Novell's directions. When the directions refer
to the LAN driver for the network board, use the
following file from the Intel diskette:

          \NETWARE.ODI\EXP16ODI.COM

2. When the Novell directions tell you to edit your
AUTOEXEC.BAT file, refer to the Intel driver as
     EXP16ODI.

3. If the EtherExpress 16 board is configured to use the
default I/O address (300h), skip to step 4.

Otherwise, you'll need to edit or create a file named
NET.CFG in the root directory. To this file, add the
     following two lines:

          Link Driver EXP16ODI
           Port xxx

but replace xxx with the I/O address that the
EtherExpress 16 board is configured to use. Be sure to
use capital letters exactly as shown, and indent the
second line by one space or one tab.

4. Now reboot the computer, and look for the driver's
     log-on message.
