SANTA STRIKE (Version 1.2)
README FILE Last Updated: 12/7/01

Merry X-Mas and pass the ammo! Thanks for trying Cyberlore's perennial holiday favorite, SANTA STRIKE! It's been amazing the number of people who have continued to play the game since we first released it last year. I guess it just goes to show that the classic games never die.

2. Playing Santa Strike
************************

In Santa Strike you are in control of a military base under attack by unknown forces. You must keep them from landing their troops and taking over.

Of course those "unknown forces" are just Santa and his Elves trying to bring a little good cheer to your dreary base. They'll do everything in their power to land their elves who will slowly decorate your base. If they manage to decorate your gun then the game is over.

Use the cursor keys (also called the "arrow keys") to aim your anti-aircraft gun, the <spacebar> is used to fire it. If you hold the spacebar down you will rapid-fire your gun until it runs out of ammo (which is then quickly reloaded).

Scoring works like this:

Reindeer 10pts (x2 if you get all of the reindeer pulling a sleigh)
Elves 10pts
Presents 10pts

You can spray as much ammo as you want by holding down the spacebar, but there will be a short pause after you've fired a certain number of shots. Learning when and how to best use the stream of bullets is the trick to doing well in the game. Later in the game you'll want to keep in mind that you don't HAVE to shoot the reindeer. Only the elves and presents are a danger to your base.

3. Troubleshooting
*******************

If you are having problems getting Santa Strike to run try grabbing the latest version of the Microsoft Virtual Machine. Use "Windows Update" in Explorer to find it.

4. What's new in 1.2?
**********************

Updated links to high-scores page.

Tweaked game speed to make it more challenging (especially in NT and Windows 2000 systems).

Added new end screen.

5. TECHNICAL SUPPORT
********************

We don't offer any tech support for Santa Strike. It's not a complex game and works well on the systems that we've tried it on but there are bound to be a few systems that have problems with it.
