                  Uncle Julius and the Anywhere Machine
                  -------------------------------------
                              (25 June 1997)

Installation
============

The installation program for "Uncle Julius and the Anywhere Machine" is
"any_inst.exe". Although it is an executable program, "any_inst.exe" is
itself ZIP-compatible: you can examine its contents with a utility like
PKZip or WinZip.

The installation program was generated with the WISE Installation System
from Great Lakes Business Systems Inc.

"Uncle Julius and the Anywhere Machine" is compatible with both Windows
3.1 and Windows 95. To install, simply extract "any_inst.exe" from the
distribution archive and run it (it is NOT enough to simply unzip
"any_inst.exe"). The default directory is "c:\anywhere" (Windows 3.1) or
"c:\Program Files\anywhere" (Win 95). The installation program lets you
choose a different directory if you prefer.

An "uninstall" program is also included. Under Windows 3.1 an icon is
provided for running the uninstall. Under Windows 95 the uninstall is
started from Control Panel's "Add/Remove Programs" dialog.

Copying to floppy disks
=======================

If you wish to copy the distribution archive (the zip file containing
this readme file) onto floppy disks as a back-up or to give to a friend,
you can either use one of the many available utilities for splitting a
large file into floppy-sized chunks, or use the pkzip DOS program as
follows:

  1) Extract all the files from the distribution archive into an empty
     directory

  2) CD to that directory

  3) You will need four empty high-density floppy disks. If your floppy
     drive is a:, give the following command:

       pkzip -& -e0 a:\any4inst

     If your floppy drive is b:, use b:\any4inst instead of a:\any4inst.

     If you want pkzip to format the floppies before use, use -&f instead
     of -&.
