Some miscellaneous information about Two-Player *Scrabble* ...

For this program, the exact official rules of *Scrabble* are used. To obtain
these rules, please purchase the original board game from Milton Bradley.
However, you can use this program with only a rudimentary knowledge of
*Scrabble*, since it will not let you go out of bounds of the official rules.
The simplicity of the design of this program makes an instruction manual
unnecessary for playing. The original board game is not needed for use of
this program. This game can be played on any IBM or compatible system.

The original concept for this game was by Milton Bradley. This program can
be used as a tool with the board game.

Some hints include: if you wish to check the value of a placement before
taking your turn, simply place the word on the board, then use the 'undo'
feature to undo it. If you are challenged, and it is successful, simply undo
your turn and then use the 'wave' option to pass your turn to the other
player.

A simple way to move the cursor key around the board is to use the
directional arrows on your number pad, with the number lock on.

Because, when playing the actual board game, grabbing tiles from the bag is
usually done just after a move, it may seem that this program behaves
differently in that you get your tiles on your next turn; however, the way
the program runs, it will be exactly the same as if you had collected your
tiles just after taking your turn.

As stated in the opening screen, use an asterisk ("*") to indicate a letter
that is already on the board when typing in your tiles you wish to place on
the board.

This program is freeware, and can be freely copied and distributed at any
time without modification. The program remains copyright 1994 by David
Caruso II. *Scrabble* is a trademark used by Milton Bradley.

If you have any comments regarding this game -- such as suggestions, bug
reports (unlikely!), criticism or praise -- you can email me, David, at the

I hope you enjoy using this program! I have enjoyed it for *many* games
before making it widely available ... !
