LEAVES - A Short Interactive Journey by Mikko Vuorinen

This game is compiled with ALAN 2.7(5), so I guess you'll need a version
2.7(5) interpreter to play it.

Well, this is it. My entry for the 1997 Interactive Fiction Competition.
Maybe a bit shorter than I originally planned, but because I started
programming much too late I'm quite satisfied with it. It's the best ALAN
game I've seen :)

Most of the puzzles in this game are about 10 years old. Actually this game
is a sort of rewrite of my game I wrote in Commodore 64 basic in 1987 or
so. I tried to find my original notes but couldn't find them, so I had to
dig up everything from memory. I had nothing on paper while I wrote this
game; I made up locations and puzzles at the same time I wrote the code.

But why the name Leaves? Maybe because the main character leaves. I don't
know. But it sounds good anyway :)

There should not be any bugs, because I test every single response the game
can give myself. I test everything I can do and everything I should not be
able to do. At the time I'm writing this nobody else has seen this game.
But I'm sure it is ready to be distributed. Of course I could polish it
more, add more responses and more silly verbs, but I don't think that
would be necessary.

There is however one bug: if you type GET ALL FROM MAN at the old man,
the interpreter crashes. At least my PC version does. There is absolutely
no need to do that and I doubt anyone would ever even think of typing that,
but you have been warned anyway. I guess it's a bug in the interpreter
itself.

About me? Well, tomorrow (27.9.1997) I turn 24 (happy birthday to me), I
study in the University of Helsinki, I'm unmarried and well that's it
actually. I like IF and have been playing text adventures ever since I was
about 10. Leaves is the first finished game I have made myself.

At this point there really should be a credits section, but since I've done
everything myself except the ALAN system itself there are no credits. But
anyway I thank the creators of ALAN for that easy to use authoring system.

The solution is in the separate file leaves.sol. Don't read it, because you
should be able to complete the game yourself in no time. It's so short and
easy.

Hmm. I guess that's it really. Have fun with Leaves.
