NOTES FOR AIRPRO 4.5

The game might be very slow (up to 1 min. waiting for the next round)!

Playing against the PC:
Enter your name as Player 1 and do not enter anything for the
other players.

Airpro 4.5 should be install in a different directory as Airpro 4/4.01.
Airpro 4.5 does not work with saved games of Airpro 4/4.01.


INSTRUCTION FOR AIRPRO 4

START NEW GAME

To start a new game, enter the name and airline for each player taking part.
Click on the white text area to enter the name or the name of the airline. Only
letters are allowed. In which year the game starts is showns above the player
names. You can change the year by clicking on the up-arrow. Below the player
names you find the selected land-file and level. To change them click on the
up-arrow. You can only select land-files that are in the same directory as
airpro.exe. Lucky Fellow is an easy level, Fighter is not that easy. When
everyting is correct, press START NEW GAME to begin playing.

LOAD GAME

You can also load a saved game. Only saved games that are in the same
directory as airpro.exe can be select. The first found file is shown in the
white rectangle. To select another file click on the up-arrow. After
selecting the file press LOAD GAME to start playing.

GENERAL

The mid area shows the players name, the airline name, the land and the level.
It is the sign for a new player or month.
The top area displayes the most important informations for the player:
   - Player: Name of the current player
   - Airline: Name of airline
   - Money: Money in millions
   - Aircrafts: The number of aircrafts you have
   - Staff: The number of people working for you
   - Plane-age: The average age of your planes
   - Date: Current month and year
   - Eco-Trend: Economic Trend from lower traffic to growing traffic
   - Load-Factor: The average loadfactor of your planes.
The lower area is used for navigation:
   - Age: A list of all your aircrafts with the age in months
   - Load-Factor: List of all your aircrafts with the load-factor for each destination
   - Routes: Create the schedule for your aircrafts
   - Buying: Buy or lease new aircrafts
   - Selling: Sell aircrafts
   - Fleet: Fleet-statistics
   - Profit: A list of all your aircrafts and their revenue
   - Next Player: Go to the next player or month
   - Load/Save: Load a saved game or save your game
   - Quit Game: Leave the game.

AGE

After selecting the age buttom you will see a list of all your aircrafts and their age.
Sample:     103 Boeing B747-400        38 L
The first number is the number of the aircraft followed by the name of the aircraft typ.
Next is the age in months and P for property (you own the plane) or L for a leased
aircraft. If the age is marked in red, your plane might be to old. The sample Boeing
B747-400 has the number 103, is 38 months old (= 3 years and 2 month) and is leased.
If you have many aircrafts press CONTINUE to go on. You might also press on
CONTINUE with the right mouse key to skip some airplanes and go on faster.

LOAD FACTOR

Load factor shows you a list of the aircrafts and their load-factors.
Sample:     2057 Airbus A320     FRA     HAM 85     HAM 75     TXL 95
First is the number of the plane, followed by the name of the aircraft typ. Next is the code
for the base of the aircraft. All flight of this airplane departure from this base airport to the
3 possible destinations. The code of the destinations and the load-factor for each destination
are shown. The sample aircrafts has the number 2057, is an Airbus A 320, and makes 6 flights:
   - FRA (Frankfurt) to HAM (Hamburg) and HAM to FRA with the load-factor of 85 %
   - FRA to HAM and HAM to FRA with the load-factor of 75 %
   - FRA (Frankfurt) to TXL (Berlin) and TXL to FRA with the load-factor of 95 %
95 % is displayed in red. Red is a sign for to high or to low load-factors. The higgest
possible load-factor is 95. You should raise the frequency for these flights. The
aircraft number and name are marked red if you are lossing money with the plane.
There are some boxes below the list for navigation:
   - More: To continue the list if you have many aircrafts
   - Up100: Continue and skip the next 100 aircrafts
   - red-only: Shows only aircrafts with red-marked load-factors (but not red-marked names)
   - Player 1-4: Shows the aircrafts of the selected player

ROUTES

Routes is the most important menu. It is used to create the schedule for your aircrafts.
You will find a list of all your aircrafts (munber, typname, base, destination 1,
destination 2, destination 3). Press on CONTINUE to see airplanes that are not
displayed. You can also press CONTINUE with the right mouse key to go on faster
is you have more than 50 aircrafts. To select an aircraft click on the white box before
the aircraft number. The next screen will show you the number of the plane and the
typname. Below AIRCRAFT shows the range of the airplane (from commuter to
very long range). The number of passenger seats is also displayed. Next is a
white box with the name of the base airport and 3 rows with the names of the
3 destinations and their load-factors. Click on the white box before base to select
the base airport. On the right you will find a list of possible base airports with
white boxes in front. You can use BACK (only ones) and CONTINUE to view
the list. Click on the white box before the cityname to select you base. To
select a destination click on the white box before it and you will see a menu
on the right, which changes with the range of the aircraft. Possible is:
   - Commuter (3 desinations = 6 flights daily)
   - Short Range (2 destinations = 4 flights daily)
   - Medium Range (1 destination = 2 flight daily)
   - Long Range (1 destination = 2 flight daily)
   - Very Long Range (1 destination = 2 flight daily)
You can also select one commuter and one short range destination.
After selecting the range of the flight, all destinations with these range are
shown (It is possible that an aircraft with very long range makes only commuter
flights). You will see a list of cities with the numbers of frequency behind.
Sample: San Francisco     2-0,1,8
You (is this case Player 2) have San Francisco two times as destination.
The next numbers show the frequency of the other players:
Player 1: 0, Player 3: 1, Player 4: 8
To select the destination click on the white box before the cityname.
To change a destination just select a new one. Select a new base if
you want to delete the complete schedule or if you have problems.
You can also replace another aircraft. Click on the white box before
REPLACE. A number of an aircrafts you might replace with the
aircraft your are working on is shown on the right. Use the arrow
keys to change the number and click on YES to replace the aircraft
or on NO to go back. The aircraft will have the schedule of the
replaced aircraft. The replaced aircraft has no schedule anymore.

BUYING

Buy or lease new aircrafts. You see a list of all aircraft typs available
at the current time. There are 3 columns. On the left are only propeller
aircrafts. Airbus, McDonnell Douglas, Lockheed and other jet aircrafts
are found in the middle. On the right are only jet aircrafts of Boeing.
Click on the white box to select an aircraft. You will see informations
about the aircraft: number of passenger-seats, number of crew and
the kind of powerplant: Jet or Propeller. Propeller aircrafts are not as
popular as jets, but the fuel is cheap. Next is the fuel consumption
and the range of the aircraft. Below you find the price of the aircraft
(the price changes every month) and how much you have to pay per
month, if you lease the aircraft. You must be able to pay the full
price of the aircraft, it is not possible to get credit. You need three
leasing rates to be able to lease an aircraft. If you want to buy or
lease one aircraft of the selected typ press YES. Press NO to go
back. You can only buy or lease two aircrafts of the same typ per
month. After selecting YES you will be asked if you want to BUY
or LEASE the aircraft. Next you are able to replace one of your
aircrafts with the new one. Select the number with the arrow keys
(right mouse key to skip some aircrafts) and press YES. Press NO
if you dont want to replace an aircraft.

SELLING

Sell your own aircrafts. You will see a list of all your aircrafts.
Sample:     587 Boeing B707-320     167 L
First is the number of the plane, followed by the name of the aircraft typ
and the age in month. At the end stands a P for property (you own the
aircraft) or a L if you have leased the plane. The sample aircraft has the
number 587, is an Boeing B707-320, 167 month (13 years and 11 months)
old and is leased. As always click on CONTINUE to see more aircrafts,
and use the right mouse key to skip some aircrafts. To select an aircraft
you want to sell, click on the white box in front of the number. You will
then see the age in month and in years, if the aircraft is in service or not,
if you own the aircraft or not (property), the value of the plane if you own
it (also the price you will get if you sell the aircraft) and the cancelling fee
you have to pay if you give back a leased aircraft. Press on YES to sell
the aircraft. Notice that old planes have lower load-factors as young planes.

FLEET

This screen shows your fleet status. On the left every player is listed
with its name an the number of aircrafts he has. You will also
see how many aircrafts of each typ he has. On the right you will find
two diagrams. The first is about the number of planes. All four players
are shown. The player with the most aircrafts has 100 %. You can see
how many aircrafts the others have in relation to him. The second
diagram is about the flights per day. The player with the most flights
per day has 100 %. How many flights 100 % are is also shown. The
per cent of the other players are in relation to the most flights per day.

PROFIT

This shows the profit of your aircrafts. Sample:

Frist stands the number of the aircraft, followed by the name of the
aircraft typ, the revenue per month, the cost of crew and fuel per
month and as result the profit per month. Click on CONTINUE to
view the list, using the right mouse key to skip some aircrafts. Red
marked aircraft names show you that you have a loss per month.

NEXT PLAYER

Click on NEXT PLAYER to finish your round.

LOAD / SAVE

Save game: Can can save your game under an existing name. Select a
saved game by clicking on the up-arrow. The saved game will be
overwritten if you press SAVE GAME. Or enter a new name by clicking
on the white text area and press SAVE GAME to save under a new name.
Load a game: Click on the up-arrow to select the file you want to load.
Press LOAD GAME to begin playing the saved game.

QUIT GAME

Leave AIRPRO 4. The game is automatically saved (lastexit).


INSTRUCTION FOR EDITCITY

How to edit new land files:

- start editcity.exe
- press F2
- enter file number (like 19) and press enter
- enter landname (like USA East) and press enter
- press F9
- enter city code (like JFK) and press enter
- press Numkey 6 (or 6)
- press F9
- enter cityname (like New York) and press enter
- press Numkey 6 (or 6)
- press F9
- enter citysize (1-5) and press enter
- press Numkey 6 (or 6)
- press F9
- enter citylocation (1=commuter, 5=very long range) and press enter
...
- press F4 to save
- press END to leave editcity


How to work with saved files:

- start editcity.exe
- press F3
- enter one of the listed numbers and press enter
- select the data you what to change with the Numkeys
  6 for right, 4 for left, 8 for up and 2 for down
- press F9 to change
- enter the new data and press enter
...
- press F4 to save
- press END to leave editcity

so they are available for everybody.
