SMILERSHELL/95 for Windows 95 and Windows NT

SmilerShell/95 is a compact yet powerful Windows 95/NT control center and
command line that takes NO space on your desktop. It looks like a simple
command line, but in reality it's more like a cross between Dashboard and
4DOS, without heavy memory requirements. Its quick directory-change
command DC lets you type the first few letters of any endpoint target
directory, on any drive, and instantly switch to that directory. And if
you set its "Sync With Explorer" switch, it'll keep Explorer's current
directory synchronized with SmilerShell/95. Combine DC with Sync and
you'll never again have to tediously click up and down a file manager
tree! If you use SmilerShell/95 ONLY as a navigation shortcut for
Explorer, it's well worth it.

But then there's the real-time memory/resources monitor, icon-menu "Apps"
launcher (easier than Start, and more flexible), multiple commands on one
line, 4DOS-like aliases (type-in or on Function keys), command completion,
even an alarm clock with a settable reminder message.

SmilerShell/95 takes NO space on your desktop. Usually it's just a tiny
button that hops into the title bar of your currently-active application.
Left-click the button to reveal the SmilerShell/95 window, or right-click
to see your Apps menu.

SmilerShell features Drag and Drop, command completion, full File
Associations support, full control over "inactive" windows, built in
FileFind. Launch your word processor with the file to edit as a
parameter, and avoid the File|Open dialog. Fast! There's much more than
a "DOS command line."

Not to ignore the top-rated command line. It's got command history,
editing, and search. It will handle anything you throw at it, including
pipes and redirection, batch files, PIF and Win95 LNK files, filenames
with embedded spaces, and file associations (just give the filename, no
need to specify the program). Its built-in Show command works like a
little Explorer window. And it runs multiple commands on one line like
4DOS ... which, when combined with its parameterized aliases, gives you a
built-in batch-like scripting language.

SmilerShell/95 takes up only about 250K of disk space, and uses less than
100K of RAM and 1% of resources while running. And it won't clutter up
your computer by spreading bits of itself throughout your system, the way
so many other Windows programs do.
