                   WinGrp v1.0 Readme File
                   -----------------------

Introduction: What is WinGrp?
-----------------------------
WinGrp was created out of a need --- "If my group files
become damaged, how do I get my icons back?" "If I
re-install a fresh copy of Windows, do I have to re-install
my programs?"

The Program Manager in Microsoft Windows uses the file
PROGMAN.INI to store group information. Each group file in
turn keeps information on each program item, which includes
the command line and the icon used.

Normally, these files have to be backed up because if, for
any reason, they become damaged then they have to be
recreated. That means either recreating the groups and items
from memory or re-installing the affected programs.

WinGrp documents all your Windows groups and items and their
settings to a text file. This file can then be printed and
kept in a safe place for future reference.

WinGrp comes complete with a Help file. Context-sensitive
help is available just by highlighting an item and pressing
F1. Of course, because of the simplicity of the program,
help may never be needed.

The only difference between the unregistered and the
registered versions of WinGrp is that the unregistered
version only saves the first 100 lines of the document.
Also, the "Unregistered Version Reminder" appears every time
an unregistered version tries to save to a file.

Network friendly
----------------
Although WinGrp points to the PROGMAN.INI file currently in
use, any PROGMAN.INI file can be opened and analyzed. This
is especially helpful on local area networks with different
Windows installations. Some users may even have two or more
Windows installations on their local drives.

Disclaimer
----------
As any software user should know by now, computer programs
are very complicated products and no guarantees are ever
stipulated implicitly or explicitly.

The way these programs work is the result of complex
interactions between different kinds of hardware and
software. Nobody can predict with a 100% accuracy how a
certain program will behave at any given time on any given
hardware configuration.

With this in mind, Press F1 for Help!, Inc. is not
guaranteeing anything. However, we do state that utmost care
has been done to deliver this product with the highest
quality we are capable of giving.

Needless to say, the responsibility of backing up your
computer files and in general of taking care of your
computer system ultimately resides with you as the user.
Thank you very much for using this product. We hope you find
it useful and enjoyable.

Shareware
---------
This software is being distributed as shareware with a
suggested registration amount of $9.00. However, you may
send in any amount you feel is a fair value for the
software. Registration is important so you can be in our
mailing list.

Like other shareware programs in circulation, continued
development depends on support from satisfied users. Please
write to us about any bugs, enhancements, or any other
comments.

If you have any problems in using this program, write your
explanation to the address below. And if possible, you can
also send us a copy of your PROGMAN.INI file and all the
corresponding group files. PLEASE SEND A SELF-ADDRESSED AND
STAMPED ENVELOPE IF YOU EXPECT A REPLY. With such a small
amount for the registration, we cannot afford to shoulder
mailing expenses.

Licensing
---------
Registered users get one upgrade free. Just obtain the
upgrade from your source (CompuServe, etc.) and your old
serial number will still work. This means that registered
users of version 1.0 get registered for version 1.1 (if that
is the next version) free. Please ignore the letters after
the "#.#" version because they only represent minor
revisions. If you want to get a copy of the latest version
directly from us, just send $3 and we will mail you the
latest version available.

Manual installation
-------------------
WinGrp only uses a few files:
WINGRP.EXE - the program itself. Copy to any directory.
WINGRP.HLP - the help file. Copy together with the main
               program (WINGRP.EXE).
VBRUN300.DLL - Visual Basic v3.0 file needed by WinGrp.
Copy to the Windows System directory.
CMDIALOG.VBX - Visual Basic file used by WinGrp. Copy
               together with VBRUN300.DLL.

Note: If you already have any of the files above, you do not
have to copy them again. Just make sure you keep the later
version.

Also: If you manually copied the program files, you have to
create the icons into your Program Manager so WinGrp can
just be a double-click away!

Registration:
-------------
Click on Help - Print Registration Form and fill out the
Registered User box and the Licensed to box (name and
address). The Registered User is the way you want your name
to appear exactly. The License information is your name and
address.

Send your check, this form, and a self-addressed and stamped
envelope to:
               Press F1 for Help!, Inc.
               Zeckendorf Towers
               111 E 14th Street Suite 313
               New York, NY 10003

We will return your registration form with your Serial
Number. You will need this to get rid of the "Unregistered
Version Reminder" message that appears every time you save
to a file. It will also make WinGrp save the whole document
(instead of just the first 100 lines) to the text file.
