1.0 Dialing Two Numbers With TurboPPP

The on-line reference manual states that if you need to dial two seperate phone numbers for TurboPPP you should seperate the numbers inside your application using a '/'. This is incorrect. Instead you should seperate the numbers using a pound sign, '#'.

2.0 Advanced Options

There are currently two options under the Advanced Settings screen in the Sportster Manager. These options are currently documented here and do not appear in the on-line reference manual.

[] Accept incoming data calls through dial up networking.

If this option is checked then all incoming data calls will appear on the line for dial up networking. This is the default. If you wish an incoming call to be handled by a WinISDN application then this field should be un-checked. If dial up networking is
not installed then this option is meaningless. Please note that the first release from Microsoft for the ISDN Accelerator Pack (March 1996) does not support handling incoming calls for Dial Up Networking with the Dial Up server. This option, however, will
be useful if you are dialing an NT Server which is using callback.

[] Negotiate control protocols using Multi-Link header format ...

This is a VERY advanced option to provide compatability with mutil-link capable devices that REQUIRE control protocols to be negotiated using a multi-link header versus a PPP header. A control protocol includes such items as IP, IPX, Compression and so fo
rth. This field should only be checked if you have been told to do so by your Service Provider or U.S. Robotics Customer Support.

3.0 No Statistics for a call

Currently the Microsoft ISDN extensions do not support the lineDevSpecific call for allowing Telephony applications to use vendor specific extensions. This call is used by the Sportster Manager to retreive statistics information from the driver. This will
be corrected by Microsoft in the next release of the Dial Up networking. Currently statistics information about the call can be seen in the call logger after the call has been disconnected.

4.0 Known Issues

1. If you are using the phone software from Algo Incorporated and you dial a ten digit phone number without an access code, and one is required, the drivers will "blue screen". If the number is dialed properly with an access code this is not a problem.

2. An incoming voice call is not connected properly if there are two data calls in progress and the terminal is configured for Additional Call Offering (ACO).

3. We have seen that Dial-Up Networking with the Accelerator Pack is incompatible with Novell's Netware32 client. If you load our dial-up driver then the Accelerator Pack will be loaded also. If you are using the Netware 32 client you should un-install it as Windows will not re-boot.

5.0 Changes To This Release

This section lists changes made to the softeware for this release.

* On an update the user is no longer re-prompted for their ISDN or card resource settings.

* The release notes are displayed at the end of the setup versus after a successful self call test.

* If you had made a previous connection with Dial-Up Network and then disconnected from the ISDN Network and then exited the Sportster Manager, the next time you started the Sportster Manager the slmstart program would GPF.

* Added an install option for the Microsoft Internet Explorer.

* The self call test will ignore the area code for the call if the area code was typed in for the phone number when the ISDN provisioning parameters were promted for. By dialing the area code, the self call test would fail.

* We have added support for Microsoft DNS resolution to TurboPPP.

* If a multi-link PPP call is detected as being split across two physical devices, because the endpoint identifiers are different, then the call is dropped down to a single B channel (64Kbps).

6.0 Microsoft ISDN Configuration Wizard

The Microsoft ISDN Configuration Wizard allows you to configure more Switch Types than our supported by the Sportster. The Sportster supports only the National ISDN, 5ESS and Northen Telecom DMS 1100 options. As a convenience we read these values after the install. Any changes after this must be done in the Sportster Manager under Configuration Settings | Telephone Company.
