I. Definitions

	In the following document*:


	1. The word 'program' or 'programs' shall represent a set of
	statements or instructions to be used directly or indirectly
	in a computer in order to bring about a certain result
	(17 USC 101-810), written and created by the me*, the author.
	Furthermore, the words shall also represent data in a form
	which enables the original statements or instructions to be
	generated from the data by an algorithm. In this document*,
	the phrase 'computer code' as used above in this definition
	shall be in context and deemed to represent all versions of
	the programs* 'File Shredder for Windows', and 'File Shredder
	for DOS'.

	2. The word 'documents' shall represent the documentation of the 
	functionality of the program*, documentation of the legalities 
	of program* usage, documentation of the internal functions of 
	the program*, documentation of inputs used in the program*, 
	documentation of outputs generated by the program*, or any 
	other documentation associated to the workings of the program*
	written by the author of the program*.

	3. The word 'software' shall represent the program* and all 
	documents*.

	4. The word 'data' shall represent all inputs made accessible to
	the program*, and all outputs produced by the program*.

	5. The words 'I', 'me' or 'my' shall represent the author of the 
	software*, if, and only if, the words are immediately followed
	by an asterisk.

	6. The word 'user' shall represent any person, persons, any type of
	organization, government agency, or group using this software*.
	The word 'users' shall represent more than one user*. The word
	'you' and 'your' shall be synonymous with the word 'user*'.

	7. The word 'executing', 'execution', or 'processing' shall 
	represent a computer performing a task based on the instruction
	or instructions in a program*.

	8. The word 'thread' shall represent one dedicated chain of
	execution* in a computer.

	9. The word 'instance' shall represent one thread* of execution* in
	a computer or operating system.

	10. The word 'copy' shall represent the program* executing* on ONE
	instance* on ONE processor.

	11. The word 'package' shall represent the packaged software*.

	12. The word 'entity' shall represent ONE cohesive package*.

	13. The word 'modify' shall represent the procedure of alteration
	of an entity*, or the alteration of an entity*, such that the
	entity*, when altered, is functionally different from the 
	software* as distributed by the author of the software*, or the
	software* produces a different output or requires different 
	input as compared to the software* as distributed by the author
	of the software*. The word shall also mean the alteration of
	the run time appearance of the software*.

	14. The word 'advertise' or 'advertisement' shall represent the
	active efforts of an individual person or persons, organization,
	government agency, or group to "sell" a	product, or call
	attention to.

	15. The abbreviated word 'DoD' shall represent the United States
	Department of Defense.

	16. The word 'shareware' shall represent software* which can be
	distributed freely to other users*. Each user* may use the
	software* for a trial period of 14 days. After the trial
	period, if the user* wishes to continue using the software*,
	the user* must register (see section IV. Registration below)
	the software*. If the user* does not register, all copies
	possessed by the user* must be destroyed. Further usage of
	the software* by the user* will be deemed to be in violation
	of clauses II.4., III.2., III.3., III.4., III.8., III.12,
	IV.1-4, and possibly III.13, III.15-16, and IV.5.
	In these cases, I* reserve the right to invoke III.12.

	17. The word 'foreign' shall represent nations or states not
	in the United States.

	18. All trademarks and service marks used in the software* are the
	property of their respective owners.


II. Program* Disclaimer

	I* hereby disclaim all warranties relating to this software*,
whether expressed or implied, including, but not limited to, warranties
of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. I* will
not be liable for any special, incidental, consequential, indirect or
similar damages - including, without limitation, damages due to loss of
data*, retrievability of data*, reconstitution of data* or any other
reason in the universe and out of the universe. The user* bears any and
all risk as to the quality and performance of the software*.
	No warranty shall extend to any user* the right to claim any
damages from me*, including, but not limited to, loss of profit, data*, or
any damages resulting from reconstructing, retrieving, unerasure, the
retrievability of data*, or the reconstitutionality of data*.
	The accuracy of my* knowledge in creating this software* is not
guaranteed. The functionality of this software* is not guaranteed. Claims
as to conformity to the DoD* government wipe (DoD* 5220.22-M) of data
as implemented in this software* is limited to the accuracy of my*
sources.
	This software* is distributed AS IS. By installing or using the
software*, the user* agrees to be bound by all conditions described in
this disclaimer and this document* 'Software* Legalities.'


III. Software* Usage Conditions

    A. Grant of License

	1. A TEMPORARY license shall be granted to a user*, effective
	for a period of 14 days after the user* installs the software*.
	Only ONE temporary license may be obtained by a user* and
	granted to a user* per annum. The software* is licensed, not
	sold.

	2. I* grant any user* the right of unlimited duplication of
	this temporary license, provided it is in accordance with
	the terms, prerequisites, and conditions set forth in all
	parts of this document*, 'Software* Legalities'. You may
	copy and distribute verbatim copies of the software* as you
	receive it, in any erasable medium, provided that you
	conspicuously and appropriately publish on each copy an
        copyright notice ('Copyright (C) O. Lee 1995') and a
	disclaimer of warranty, keep intact all notices referring
	to this document*, and distribute this License document*,
	'Software Legalities' along with the software*.	

	3. The license may be duplicated for use for users* which have
	not retained or used another temporary license for this
	software* for a period of one year or more.

	4. Upon termination of the temporary license, the user* must
	either:
		a) Destroy all copies of the software*, or
		b) Refrain from using the software* until:
			* A registered license has been authorized and
			  received, or
			* The temporary license has been reactivated
			  one annum or more from the date of the last
			  temporary license termination.

	5. A REGISTERED license may be obtained at any time. To obtain
	a REGISTERED license, the user* must register the software* as
	per instructions listed elsewhere in this document*,
	'Software* Legalities'.

	6. A REGISTERED license must be obtained by the user* if the
	user* wishes to use the software* past the period granted by
	the TEMPORARY license.

    B. Description of Other Rights and Limitations

	1. You may not reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the
	software*, except and only to the extent that such activity is
	permissible by applicable law notwithstanding this limitation.

	2. The software* is licensed as a single product. Its component
	parts may not be separated for use on more than one computer.

	3. The user* may not rent, lease, or sell the software*, or
	distribute the software* for profit, unless as specified in
	section V., 'Sales', in this document*, 'Software Legalities'.

	4. If you, the user*, do not agree to ALL the terms, 
	prerequisites, and conditions of this document* and elsewhere
	in the software*, you must destroy all copies of the
	software* and all of its component parts.
	
	5. The software* and components of the software* MAY NOT be
	modified* by any user* without my* written consent. Exception:
	If the user* obtains the latest version of this document* 
	(see Software* Usage Conditions Clause #12 below), the user*
	may distribute the latest version of this document* in place of
	the earlier, annulled version of this document*.

        6. The software* shall be governed by international treaties,
	international and national copyright decrees (Universal
	Copyright Convention, Int. Copr. Conv. Circular 38c, etc.), the
	laws of the United States of America (17 USC Sec. 101-810,
	amendments, and other statutes) , the laws of the State of
	Illinois, the bylaws of Cook County, and the ordinances of the
	City of Chicago, in that order of precedence. Users* violating
	the rules, regulations, and conditions as set forth in this
	document*, 'Software* Legalities,' may result in severe civil
	and criminal penalties, and may be prosecuted to the maximum
	extent possible under local, state, provincial, federal,
	international, and foreign* law at my* option. The user* hereto
	irrevocably attorns to the jurisdiction of the governments and
	officials of the areas listed in this condition.

	7. The software is hereby deemed to be SHAREWARE*. Distributors
	of the software* may charge a reasonable fee to cover the costs
	of the media containing the software*, and shipping costs of the
	software* or five United States dollars ($5 US or the equivalent
	foreign* currency), whichever is the lesser amount.

        8. The software* may not be imprinted on any un-erasable
	media (such as a CD-ROM disk) without prior written consent
	and written authority from me*. If this clause has been
	violated by the user*, I may charge the user* for each
	imprinted copy at the current registration fee rate, as
	documented in IV.B., 'Registration Fees', in this document*,
	plus damages as allowed by law as documented in clauses III.B.6,
	III.B.9-13, III.B.15-16 and elsewhere in this document*.

        9. The software* is copyrighted by the author of the software*.

        10. When the software* is advertised* in any publication, the
	words:

                '** Copyright (C) O. Lee 1995'

	shall appear along with the advertisement in a font size
	equal to the font size of the name of the software* or
	description of the software*, whichever is larger, and it must
	be easily visible. Two asterisks (**) shall appear after the
	name of the software* wherever it appears in the advertisement.
	This clause may be waived with authorization from the author,
	at the addresses specified in section V. Sales.

        11. All copyright notices shall be maintained on the software*.

        12. I* reserve the right to add and remove clauses and terms in
	this document* named 'Software* Legalities' at any time. Each
	version of this document*, named 'Software* Legalities', shall
	not have an effective lifespan of less than 14 days from the
	date as imprinted in the document's* serial number (serial number
	format: ddmmyy... - the first two digits represent the day in
	the month, the next two digits represents the month in the
	year, and the next two digits represents the year in the twentieth
	century). The document* shall be in effect at 12:01:00 AM one day
	after the day as imprinted in the serial number, and shall be in
	effect until 12:01:00 AM fourteen days after. If an updated
	version of this document* is not released after the term of
	fourteen days, the same version of the document* shall remain
	in effect until the updated version has been released. When a
	new version of this document* is released,  the new version of
	this document* will immediately take effect at 12:01:00 AM
	Central Standard Time (CST) on the day after this document is
	released, and shall be deemed legally enforceable in the United
	States and all foreign* nations, and all earlier versions of this
	document* in effect shall be annulled and deemed legally
	unenforceable. However, limitations imposed by international and
	national ex post facto laws shall limit the power of this clause
	(#12), as prescribed by each nation's ex post facto laws. It is
	the responsibility of the user* to obtain the latest version of
	this document*. The latest version of this document may be

        13. This software* is provided with restricted rights. Use,
        duplication, or disclosure by the U.S. Government is subject to
	restrictions as set forth in subparagraph (c)(1)(ii) of The
	Rights in Technical Data and Computer Software clause at DFARS
	252.227-7013 or subparagraphs (c)(1) and (2) of the Commercial
	Computer Software-Restricted Rights at 48 CFR 52.227-19, as
	applicable. Manufacturer/creator (I*) can be contacted on the

        14. Conformity of the software* to the DoD* (U.S. Department of
        Defense) specifications of the government wipe (DoD* 5220.22-M)
	as implemented in this software* is limited to the accuracy of
	my* sources.

        15. This software* is provided with restricted international
        rights. Use, duplication, or disclosure by any foreign*
        government is subject to international treaties between the U.S.
	government and the foreign* nation, United Nations agreements,
	N.A.F.T.A., other various trademark, patent, and copyright
	agreements, and this document*.

        16. Export of this software* outside of the boundaries of the
        United States of America may be restricted, withheld, or
        prohibited by the U.S. federal government. Import of this
        software* to any foreign* nation may be restricted, withheld,
        or prohibited by the foreign* nation. Exporting, importing,
        or usage of this software* is the responsibility of the
        user* to know the laws of the nation where exporting, importing,
	or usage is taking place, and to appropriately take action as
	concerning this software*. Areas where export of this software
	is restricted by the United States government may be subject to
	United States jurisdiction.


IV. Registration

    A. Registration rules:

	1. The registration fee shall be paid in United States (US)
	dollars, or in the equivalent foreign* currency as listed
	in the table below. If your country is not listed in this
	table of exchange rates, you may pay the equivalent of
	$15 US dollars at the exchange rate during the day you
	have listed below in #7 of 'Submitting your Registration'.

	2. The registration fee shall be paid in the form of a money
	order, cashiers check, or personal check. If the user's*
	check bounces, the registration will not be confirmed.
	3. The registration fee shall cover the programs* labelled
	'File Shredder for Windows' and 'File Shredder for DOS' (1 of
	each), the cost for the disk and postage to send the disk with
	the updated new registered versions of the programs*, and
	the REGISTERED license.
	
	
    B. Registration Fees

    C. Submitting the Registration

	ALL of the following must appear together on ONE sheet of paper,
	written or typed in standard English.

	7. Today's date
        8. The operating system you are using (with version numbers):
           i.e. DOS/Windows, Windows '95, Windows NT.
        9. State the number of copies* of software* you* are using
        10. Write down which disk format you prefer: 1.2 MB, or 1.44 MB disk
            (on this disk will be the next full registered versions of the
            software*, sent to you).
        11. For each copy* of the software*, write down its serial number
            The serial number is found at:
            >> File Shredder for Windows:
               (run the software*, click on 'About', and find the number
                labelled after 'Serial Number').
            >> File Shredder for DOS:
               (run the software*, and find the number labelled after
                'Serial Number').
        12. Write down the total registration fee you* are submitting
        13. Copy down the following sentence before signing the registration
            sheet below the information above. Where it says <day>,
            <month>, and <year>, substitute today's day, month and year:

            'I, (name or organization in #1), do hereby affirm that the
             information I have provided above is in fact true to the 
             best of my knowledge on this day, the <day> of <month>,
             <year>. Signed,'

        14. The person with the name given in (#1) must sign the registration
            sheet. If an organization is listed in (#1), an authorized
            person(s) who officially represents the organization in
            registration for the software* must sign the registration
            sheet. Signing the registration sheet implies agreement with
            the statement you* have written or typed as specified in (#10)
            above.

	The registration sheet along with the registration fee shall be 
	sent to:
