Map Name: Gladitorus

Design, Layout, etc.: INT SuiCyco

Special Thanks: AX-L, GoM StrikeAce

Misc: Unzip to addon directory, etc. If you love it, hate it,
find a problem, send your comments to intsui@juno.com. This map was
built for Team Intercept for AVA Dueling. It's a balanced arena,
no paticular weapon has a great advantage here. Don't hit the walls,
they are moody and sometimes flip your car over for you. Serves you
right I say, watch where your going! Following the trail leads up to
'the lookout' flanked by 2 torches it gives an excellent view of
the battle ensuing below. Just park it and go into f2 view mode and
use your arrow keys to find the sweet viewing angle. Great for odd
man out duels. When its time for the new dueler to respawn, just drive
off the ledge, explode, and he's ready. No ctrl-alt-x nessecary.
Don't forget to put the glad.npt file in addons.
Turn on high res objects, there are juniper trees on this level.
Look for the secret stuff.. I don't make a map without SOMETHING
whacky in it..

groin!

Background:

I downshifted into 2nd as the warm pitch of the in line six
filled my ears and she settled down from about 80mph... Feeling
the wheels ease back into the dirt, I began my turn.

"Come on Nikki, just finish this slide.." I whispered to myself..
And I was in the pocket. Whoever this guy was, he feverishly
pounded mortar after mortar out the rearend of his car, but I
was too close to be hit by the offending bombs. Suddenly, the
weapons control system told me something I'd been waiting to hear
for what felt like centuries.

AIM hot and loaded in the pod.

With a great snap-hiss the missle flew with deadly intent before my
finger fully depressed the button, and obliterated the rear end of
the offending Cavera that had just tried to turn me into so much
spare parts. Oily smoke poured out of the trashed axle and
differential assembly. The car was a total, and the driver
was lucky to be alive. Luckier still that I didn't finsih him off
into oblivion.

I drove by his wreckage, I was too busy to stop and chat... My
CB came alive and over the static i heard him ask "Where
did you learn to do that?!" I grinned, it was a strange story I
didn't bother telling many... "Abroad" I said and as the blower
came into play, I turned west, and sped off to meet my destiny.

It had been nearly 6 years since I'd returned from my fateful trip
to the medditeranian. I was a test driver by profession, but
what I was shown in Greece taught me many things that had more than
once, saved my life. While driving there on an overseas assignment,
I befriended many foriegn drivers. But they didnt just test cars..
They hammered out justice in their own way, and taught me those
secrets. In an area no bigger than an American Football field...
Gladitorus.

The ground was the color of dark skies. Fixed into this solid
terrain were the massive Pillars of Gladitorus. 12 of them total,
for fighters to weave in and out of for an winner-takes-all game of
cat and mouse. Inscribed into the side walls, by some later visitor
I'm sure, was "Interceptum Infidus Prorsus". An admirable goal.
And always the sky's were overcast.. Everytime I went there, I felt
a sense of awe inside the massive man-made wonder. The air was as
icy as the hearts of the men that had taken the lives of others
here. But it was also as clean as their intentions. The arena, in
short, taught me how to kill, and in doing so, had saved my life.

It had been built for Chariots thosands of centuries before the
rise of the vigilante, but it trained them just as well.
Gladitorus revealed all, as its bone chilling winds blew
through it's halls and let out the muted screams of it's many
victims buried beneath the clay....
