Unlike my "Civil War" scenerio, "The Great Crusades" requires that several
steps be followed after it has been decompressed. Even though there are
not many new units, you will have to overwrite both your rules.txt and a
a sound file, "mchnguns.wav" with the updated ones after you have backed
up each. "mchnguns.wav" will be copied to C:\mps\civ2\sounds, instead of
just C:\mps\civ2 like rules.txt. If you have changed "units.gif" in any way
in order to change the icons, it is recommended that you change this file back
to its original form, because that's how the new units are arranged.

In this scenerio, there are six different civilizations on the map of
europe.

Byzantine Empire- Historically, the empire lost all of its cities except
for Constantinople to invaders such as Normans, Seljuks, Syrian Muslims,
and other barbarians. In the scenerio you must defend Constantinople at
all costs, and keep your alliance with the rest of Western Europe in order
to defeat the Turks.

Holy Roman Empire- Build your economy, stengthen your position in North
Africa, and begin the invasion of the Middle East using your triremes.
A weak unprotected egypt is a good place to start.

Great Britain- The isolated island now has a chance at becoming an empire.
Your navy can land in Palestine with no threat from the invaders.
Scandanavia is empty and ready for settlement, and don't be too self-
consious to turn on the independant nations as well. Ireland and Denmark
are ripe for the taking.

Syrian Muslims- Egypt needs to be fortified, and fast. Forget conquering
the Seljuks, concentrate on Syria, and try to get Iran to expand
east all the way into India.

Seljuk Turks- your fundamentalist government allows a large army. Use it!
Don't stop at constantinople, you experts out there may be able to conquer
all of western europe as well. if your alliance with Egypt fails, conquer
them without hesitation.

Independant Nations- Portugal and Spain may be able to settle across the
Mediterranean. Continue settling Lithuania and prussia..... and don't
forget about barbarian Moscow either. Raise an army and it's all yours.

I'd like any comments, because i realize that it's not perfect. oh yeah, and if anyone
knows about how to get the text file to read on the screen when you begin the scenerio
can you enlighten me? -Brian Gorman 102472,2705
