June 28, 1997, Demo Version 1.80

Thanks for downloading this demo of Computer War In Europe!
This demonstration version is NOT fully functional. The
following changes have been made to the demonstration
version: (1) loading and saving games in progress has been
disabled; (2) only the 1939 Poland Scenario may be selected;
(3) the game will only play the first 6 turns (weeks) of
the war, from 9/1/39 through 11/0/39, including two
production cycles; and (4) the Scenario Editor has been
disabled.

To play War In Europe, enter "WW2" at the WIE directory
prompt. If you do not have a sound card, or your sound
card has a conflict with War In Europe, start the game
by entering "WW" and the sound portion of the game will
not be loaded. To play War In Europe out of Windows 95,
create a Short Cut to "ww2.bat." Make sure the Short
Cut's memory is set to automatic and that the Working
Directory is the War In Europe source directory. To play
War In Europe in Windows 3.x, you must create a PIF file
giving War In Europe at least 4 MB of RAM and set up
"ww2.ico" as the icon linked to "ww2.bat." War In Europe
will run noticably slower under Windows 3.x.

when Decision Games releases the final boxed version this
September/October. Until then, prepublication purchasers

The online Help provides comprehensive documentation of
the rules and game play. If you would like a hard copy
of the online documentation, simply print the file
"Rules.txt"--a text file which is located in the main
directory--using any text editor or word processor.
You can also print "Rules.txt" while in DOS by first
hitting Cntrl-Print Screen buttons, and then entering
"Type C:\WIE\Rules.txt", which will scroll the file on
the screen and send it to the attached printer.

War In Europe requires at least 4 MB of RAM, approximately
7 MB of space on a hard drive, VGA monitor and video card,
Microsoft compatible mouse and keyboard, and a 386 processor.
A Soundblaster or 100% compatible Soundblaster sound card
is required for sound. War In Europe is written for the
MS-DOS operating system, but will also operate in Windows
95 or a Windows 3.x DOS box.

The War in Europe mailing list is an independent e-mail
group that discusses both the computer and board game
versions of War In Europe. There is also an online,
Internet accessable archive of the list at:
	www.halisp.net/listserv/warineur
To participate you must subscribe yourself to the list from
the e-mail address that you will use to contact the list.
To subscribe send e-mail to:
	warineur-request@halisp.net
        	or
	warineur-digest-request@halisp.net (digest version)
and put the single word 'subscribe' in the message body.
Leave the subject line blank and disable any signature bloc.
You will receive an info packet as confirmation of your
subscription. You will then be able to send as well as
receive e-mail from the WIE list.

Note, although updates are posted online, these updates
do not work with the demo version. The updates only work
with the purchased version.

The computer version of War In Europe, adapted from the
original board game, was designed and programmed by
Gregory Ploussios, gregorianchant@Compuserve.com.
