Readme file for DBCDPlayer version 0.20 (Freeware version) March-96

DISCLAIMER:
I allow you to use and distribute DBCDPlay.exe and the files listed below
freely under the condition that I am in no way responsible for any damages
or losses you may suffer as a result of copying, installing or using
DBCDPlay.exe and its accompanying files.

DONATIONS:
This program is freeware and therefore you shouldn't have to pay anything for it.
The reason this program is not shareware isn't because I'm afraid of money.
The reason is I don't want the administration and responsibility shareware
handling involves. However if you find this program nice I wouldn't be unhappy
if you'd send a donation of approx. 10 U.S. dollars to my home address (avaliable
in the About box and here below). It's such a small amount of money that's almost
safe to send through the mail (I hope). The advantage of making a donation is that
I'd listen more carefully to those who do when/if I'm doing improvements to the
program.

WHAT DOES IT DO?
The program plays audio CDs and has the capability of storing Artists, CD and
song titles in a data file. The current CD title and song title will be
shown in the program's display window while the CD is playing.

I believe that using the program will be pretty obvious, and therefore the
program has no online help. I hope my belief corresponds somewhat to
reality. There are, however, some accelerator keys which are nearly
impossible to figure out without some help. And these follow below.

Accelerator keys to activate pushbuttons (Main window):
  Ctrl+<up arrow> - scan Forward
  Ctrl+<down arrow> - scan Backward
  Ctrl+<left arrow> - track Reverse
  Ctrl+<right arrow> - track Advance
  <Pause button> - Pause
  e - Eject
  p - Play
  s - Stop
  + - increase volume
  - - decrease volume
  Alt+a - About box
  Alt+c - Continuos play
  Alt+m - Music scan
  Alt+s - Setup window
Alt+t - set Titles and play order

Accelerator keys to activate pushbuttons (Titles and play order window):
Alt+d - Default play order (Give all CD tracks in ascending order)
  Alt+a - Apply and save

THINGS GOOD TO KNOW:
When you use the left mouse button on the track bar then it jumps a song at
a time. When you use the right hand mouse button it will go directly to the song.

WHAT'S NEW IN THIS THIRD VERSION?
Things that have been added since the second version are "continuos play
button", "Music scan button", "Play as soon as CD is inserted button" and
"Setup window". The continuos play button will make your CD player start
playing all your available tracks over and over again. The Music scan button
will start playing a sample of each track as soon as checked. Where in each
track the samples will start and for how long they will played, can be set
in the setup window.

FILES INCLUDED AND CREATED:
DBCDPlay.exe - The executable program.
DBCDP.INI - A file created while running the program. Contains program settings.
DBCDP._db - A file created while running the program. Contains CD and song titles.
file_id.diz - A text file which makes System Operators (SysOp) of BBS's happy (mostly).
ReadMe.txt - This file.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:
You must run WARP OS/2 3.0 or later with the MMPM/2 installed. A CD ROM
player with an audio cable connected to a sound card, or headphones
directly connected to the CD also might work.

SPECIAL THANKS:
I am most thankful to those who's giving me suggestions and encouragement.
Please keep on doing that! It has been nice reading. Special thanks Paul Kartchner
in salt lake city utah for finding nasty bugs for me!
