
                 Installing an EtherWORKS 3 adapter on WIN95
                 ===========================================


 Double-click MY COMPUTER Icon

 Double-click CONTROL PANEL Icon

 Double-click NETWORK Icon

Under the CONFIGURATION tab click the ADD... button

Select the ADAPTER Icon in the SELECT NETWORK COMPONENT TYPE box
    click the ADD... button

In the SELECT NETWORKS ADAPTERS BOX
   Manufacturers:   scroll down to Digital Equipment
                    select Digital Equipment

   Networks Adapters:  scroll down to DEC EtherWORKS 3 (All ISA versions)
                       select DEC EtherWORKS 3 (All ISA versions)

   click the OK button

We are now back in the NETWORK box under the CONFIGURATION tab.

  Select DEC EtherWORKS 3 (All ISA versions)
  Click the PROPERTIES button

In the DEC EtherWORKS 3 (ALL ISA VERSIONS) box

  DRIVER TYPE tab: Enhanced mode (32 bit and 16 bit NDIS driver) {prefered}

  BINDINGS tab: select protocol type used on the network

  ADVANCED tab: 2K/Configuration Type 0 is prefered, but the others may be
                used as the need arises. 

  RESOURCES tab: Ensure the I/O address, IRQ and Memory address selection 
                 are the same the NIC being installed.  If not sure, run the
                 NICSETUP utility found on the driver diskette under the 
                 WIN95 DOS prompt to confirm/change the settings to match.

                     NOTE: The asterisk before the hardware settings indicates
                           a conflict exists with other hardware.  Make the 
                           changes needed to eliminate the conflict.

  Click the CLOSE button

We are now back in the NETWORK box under the CONFIGURATION tab.

   RESOURCES tab: you may wish to review the network components and 
                  remove those not used by your network  i.e. 

                      CLIENT FOR MICROSOFT NETWORKS
                      CLIENT FOR NETWARE NETWORKS 

                      IPX/SPX-COMPATIBLE PROTOCOL
                      NETBEUI

                   CAUTION: ensure the network component is not needed 
                   by your network before removal, otherwise improper 
                   network functionality may occur.

  IDENTIFICATION tab: ensure the computer name is unique on the network.  The
                      WORKGROUP name must be assigned if sharing files or 
                      printers.

  ACCESS CONTROL tab:  Make selections on security level for sharing files.

We are now ready to bring up the network.

Click the OK button
