Creating and Editing a Symbol

Sensiva Help Home > Customize Sensiva > Creating and Editing a Symbol

Symbols are used as shortcuts to execute actions. Many symbols are included in Sensiva.

The Symbol Editor enables you to create and edit custom and existing symbols to execute commands with Sensiva. The symbol editor can be found in the "Customize Sensiva" button near the top of the Sensiva window. Select "Symbol" and then "New".

Symbol Editor - Step 1 of 2
In this window, you define your new symbol by drawing it within the "Vector View" box. You make lines by creating two or more points (or handles), which appear when you click on the Vector View field. This representation will be used for symbol recognition. Once you are satisfied with your new symbol, click the "Next" button.

Symbol Editor - Step 2 of 2
In this window, you create an iconic representation of your symbol. In the "Bitmap zoomed view" box you can clean up your symbol and, since this icon will not be used for recognition, you can add a representation of the direction in which the symbol should be drawn. For example, an arrow. You can add lines by clicking the left button and erase lines by clicking the right button. Once you have completed this step and are satisfied with the design of your new symbol, click the "Finish" button. You will then be prompted to save your symbol. Make your symbol's name reflective of it's shape. Do not name your symbol after the action that it will be associated with. You can save it anywhere in the Symbol Library.

Now this symbol can be associated with an action.
